Major (2022)

Major is a personal pursuit to bring back what is gone and create a connection and physicality to a presence which, despite being so close, is both unknown and unreachable. 

 

Having never met nor heard much information about her paternal grandfather, Matthew 'The Major' Hunt, the artist investigates his life and attempts to better understand not only him but also her family and herself. Knowing only of the strained relationship he shared with his family, and his penchant for alcohol and cigarettes, she acts almost as a detective, gathering evidence and witness accounts of his existence through conversations with his children; and collecting old family photographs and several of his belongings along the way.

Major sparked a development that soon became another body of work. One began to bleed into the other and the two projects have since become intertwined, forming the singular Voyager.
