There Was A Comfort, There Was A Presence (2021)

There Was A Comfort / There Was A Presence is a multi-media installation project exploring themes of familial history, identity and inheritance. Based on the supernatural occurrences experienced by generations of women from the artist's paternal family, it explores the concept of the unreachable and the 'veiled' presences they felt throughout their lifetimes.

Through experimentation with familial archive images, audio and performance video, the work acts as a visualisation of the women's experiences and the veil between the supernatural and the flesh.

There Was A Comfort / There Was A Presence is accompanied by an interview transcript between the artist and her aunt, the only remaining living relative to have experienced these occurrences other than Hunt and her sister. To access the transcript, click the PDF icon.
